Perry Janes is the author of the poetry collection FIND ME WHEN YOU’RE READY (Curbstone Books/Northwestern University Press, 2024), winner of the Eric Hoffer Award for Poetry. A recipient of the Pushcart Prize, his poems and short stories have appeared in POETRY, Electric Literature, Poem-a-Day, Best New Poets, The Threepenny Review, Zyzzyva, The Michigan Quarterly Review, Subtropics, Prairie Schooner, Beloit Poetry Journal, The Adroit Journal, The Missouri Review, and others. He earned his MFA in Poetry from Warren Wilson College, and his BA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was a 5-time recipient of the Hopwood Award.

While pursuing his BA, Perry shot his debut short film ZUG on location in Detroit, Michigan. The film went on to receive a Student Academy Award from the AMPAS. He has received fellowships and residencies from Gotham (IFP), The Poetry Foundation, The Bergruenn Institute, and The Vermont College of Fine Arts. In 2018 he was selected for the inaugural Imagine Impact Content Accelerator, and in 2020 he appeared on the annual Blacklist of Hollywood’s best un-produced scripts. Originally from metro Detroit, Michigan, he currently splits time between Los Angeles and the Bay Area, where he works as a screenwriter.
